The award show is made possible by organizer and host Aljon, host of 102.9 The Local Buzz. Aljon mentions, “I started the show to recognize the thriving rock bands in Music City. There is more than just country music and rhinestones here. There is huge undiscovered talent in all genres: punk, metal, underground and hard rock it’s all here waiting to be discovered!” The award show, hosted by Aljon Go and Tony Stone features nominee performances and guest presenters. “Donate Life” wristbands will be available for a $2.00 donation. There will also be information on The National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee, Kidney Disease and its prevention as well as organ donor cards to fill out.

“The bands represent the best of the local rock submissions of last year and are all worth recognition” says Aljon. “All the bands have volunteered their time to perform at this special show to raise awareness of the local rock scene, kidney disease and the importance of organ donation. I will always remember that.” Aljon’s wife and sister-in-law suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease (Infantile Polycystic Kidney Disease) and have undergone kidney transplants over the past 3 years. “People should expect to see some of the BEST rock acts in Middle Tennessee, have fun and raise funds for a great worthwhile cause” states Aljon.

Soundgarden Reunites! Well, Almost …

Excerpt from Gibson.com:

The crowd had initially gathered to see Tom Morello’s Nightwatchman, MC5’s Wayne Kramer and Steve Earle. But when guitarist Kim Thayil joined Morello and Kramer for some spontaneous guitar combustion, the crowd could sense something was up. Their suspicions were somewhat confirmed when drummer Matt Cameron’s head could be seen peeking out from behind the backstage area. Of course, all hell broke loose when bassist Ben Shepherd joined Cameron and Thayil on stage for the first time since 1997, launching into a short three-song set with Morello helping out on rhythm guitar, ripping through “Nothing To Say,” “Hunted Down” and a blistering take of “Spoonman” that left the capacity crowd in a frenzy.

Van Halen & GNR Summer Tour PLUS Creed Reunion?

Interesting news from Gibson.com. Both GNR and VH are managed by the same company so you never know. It looks like Scotty Stapp may be on the mend with his old bandmates. Just don't go looking for a Creed/311 tour!
